Ukraine will need about 524 billion U.S. dollars over the next decade for recovery, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Tuesday, citing a new World Bank report, reported Xinhua.
"The latest figures surpass the previous estimate by 38 billion dollars. Such huge costs mean that recovery must be a global project," Shmyhal wrote in a post on Telegram.
During reconstruction, the Ukrainian government will adhere to the "build back better" principle, prioritizing safety, energy efficiency, and accessibility.
Separately, the government press service reported that Ukraine's housing sector requires about 84 billion dollars for reconstruction, followed by the transport and energy sectors with 78 billion dollars and 68 billion dollars respectively.
In 2025, the Ukrainian cabinet has allocated 7.37 billion dollars for priority recovery efforts in housing, education, healthcare, energy and other sectors.
The government estimates the funding gap for recovery and reconstruction this year at 9.96 billion dollars.
