Girl dies in Germany from stab wounds allegedly caused by sister
A 7-year-old girl has died from multiple stab wounds allegedly caused by her 13-year-old sister in the eastern German city of Leipzig, police reported on Saturday.
A police spokeswoman said that the possible weapon had been secured and that traces of blood were found on it. She did not provide further details about the weapon.
The 13-year-old called the emergency services to an apartment block in the Kleinzschocher district of the city on Friday evening, where police found the seriously injured 7-year-old. She was taken to hospital, where she later died.
According to the police, the 13-year-old is currently receiving psychological care in a specialist clinic.
"The parents were not at home at the time of the incident, but were informed the same evening," the police spokeswoman said, adding that a crisis intervention team was present during the discussion.
Police and prosecutors have started investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
Police said a post-mortem examination of the body has been ordered but did not comment on when this would be carried out or when the results would be available.
