Russian airstrikes kill 3 in Ukraine

At least three people were killed after Russia launched airstrikes on Ukraine Saturday, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reported Xinhua.
Zelensky wrote on Telegram that Russian forces launched waves of drones and missiles at Ukraine's energy infrastructure and civilian facilities overnight, causing extensive damage and fires in residential buildings.
He said the country was attacked by over 600 drones and 36 missiles.
The Russian defense ministry said in a statement the same day that the strike was conducted "in response to Ukraine's terrorist attacks on civilian targets in Russia."
"The Russian Armed Forces conducted a large-scale strike using high-precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukrainian military-industrial complex enterprises and energy facilities that support their operations," the ministry said.
It added that all designated targets were hit and the objectives of the strike were achieved.
The Russian Armed Forces also destroyed a Ukrainian military airfield, and storage and launch sites for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, it said.
