Russia raids Ukrainian missiles storage, Ukraine attacks Russian nuke plant
Russian forces launched a strike on a storage site for Ukrainian missiles and a drone workshop, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday, reported Xinhua.
The strike targeted a storage site for "Sapsan" operational-tactical missiles, a drone production workshop and warehouse, and temporary deployment points for Ukrainian armed formations in 146 areas, the ministry said in a statement.
It added that Russian air defense systems shot down three HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system rounds and 172 drones over the past day.
Ukraine's Air Force said Sunday that Russia attacked with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 72 combat and decoy drones overnight, adding that 48 of them were downed.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone attacks sparked fires at a Russian nuclear plant and other energy facilities, local authorities said Sunday.
Debris from a Ukrainian drone struck a transformer at the Kursk nuclear power plant early Sunday, causing a fire and damage, the regional operational headquarters said.
No casualties were reported, it said, adding that the blaze was extinguished and radiation levels at the plant and surrounding area remained unchanged.
In the Leningrad region, debris from another drone ignited a fire at a terminal of Russian natural gas producer Novatek in the port of Ust-Luga, regional governor Alexander Drozdenko said.
The fire was later put out and no casualties were reported, he said.
