Poland receives €6.2b under EU's recovery fund

Poland has received 6.2 billion euros from the European Commission under the pandemic recovery fund, the country's Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz announced Monday on platform X, reported Xinhua.

This tranche is the third disbursement for Poland's National Reconstruction Plan (KPO), as two tranches totaling 67 billion zlotys were transferred in 2024, Polish media reported.

According to Poland's request, the fund is supposed to cover investments and reforms in various areas, including household energy efficiency, spatial planning, renewable energy development, expansion of the 5G network, cybersecurity, transport safety, vocational education, the circular economy, and improvements to childcare and long-term care standards.

Poland was originally to receive 59.8 billion euros from the European Union (EU), including 25.3 billion in grants and 34.5 billion in loans. Following the EU Commission's approval of Poland's revised KPO in November, the total was reduced to 54.7 billion euros, with loans cut to 29.4 billion euros. This decision still needs to be confirmed by the EU Council.
