Malta takes over presidency of Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers
Malta on Wednesday assumed the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe for the fourth time during a ceremony in Luxembourg.
Ian Borg, Malta's deputy prime minister and minister for foreign affairs and tourism, received the gavel to lead the committee for the next six months, according to a government statement.
Marking 60 years of Malta's membership, the presidency highlights the country's commitment to multilateralism and European values. In his address, Borg pledged to focus on child protection, human dignity, youth empowerment, democracy, and combating hate speech.
Malta will also host the Specialised Conference of Ministers for Youth and the European Youth Work Convention.
