Dutch police arrest 2 after plundering of German cemetery

Two men suspected of damaging more than 150 graves and burial sites while stealing metal near the German city of Dusseldorf were arrested by Dutch police after crossing the border, officials said on Sunday, reported dpa.
Officers found several urns and copper in their car, according to the police.
On Saturday morning, visitors to a forest cemetery in the town of Monheim discovered extensive damage after unknown perpetrators apparently sought valuable metal like copper and bronze.
A few hours later, the Dutch police reported that a car with number plates from the district of Mettmann, in which Monheim is located, had been checked at a nearby border crossing into the Netherlands.
Officers arrested a 16-year-old and a 23-year-old after finding several urns and items made of copper taken from graves in the vehicle, which was then impounded along with the items.
The pair are now under investigation for disturbing the dead and aggravated theft.
