Two men were killed after a snowmobile fell through the ice over a river in Russia's far eastern region of Yakutia, regional emergency services said Saturday, reported Xinhua.
According to the regional branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), four men were riding a snowmobile along a river when the vehicle broke through the ice about 80 meters from shore.
Two of the men managed to escape on their own, while the other two were later found dead during search operations.
The EMERCOM warned that ice is only beginning to form in Yakutia and that access to water bodies remains strictly prohibited.
