1 killed, 5 injured in knife attack at Croatian school
One child was killed and five others, including 3 children, were injured in a knife attack that occurred Friday morning at an elementary school in the Croatian capital, reported Xinhua.
The five injured have been rushed to hospitals nearby and are out of danger, and the attacker, a 19-year-old young man, has been arrested, according to Croatian Minister of the Interior Davor Bozinovic.
The circumstances and dynamics of this event are being determined, Bozinovic said in a statement, adding that the crime scene investigation and other police actions will be presented to the public in a timely manner.
The suspect entered the Precko Elementary School and began randomly attacking students and a teacher with a knife before he was eventually subdued. The perpetrator has a medical history and he is not a student, and it is not an act of terrorism, the statement said.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said that the government is horrified by this great tragedy.
"As soon as we have more information, the public will be informed," Plenkovic said.
